Administrative Assistant
Be a part of history in the making. The Road Home, a housing recovery program for Louisiana residents displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, seeks Administrative Assistants. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative and support related activities in support of The Road Home program. The Administrative Assistant will perform word processing and spreadsheet work, edit and type documents, maintain electronic and paper-based files, answer phones, open and distribute mail, screen incoming calls, schedule and set up meetings, and make travel arrangements.
The Administrative Assistant must have excellent typing skills, expert knowledge of personal computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; be proficient in performing Internet searches and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff. The Administrative Assistant must be able to read, write, and speak English; proficiency in French, Spanish, or Vietnamese is desirable.
This position is located in Baton Rouge, City of New Orleans, Lake Charles, and other locations including Cameron, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Terrebonne, and Vermilion. High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years administrative experience required. The candidate must be comfortable working in large teams and in a fast paced environment and have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including the ability to perform some evening or weekend work if required. Job Duties/Experince as follows:
- Learn and apply general and updated program rules and procedures.
- Sort all incoming mail and faxes.
- Scan and upload all incoming documents to an applicant eGP file.
- Establish paper and electronics files.
- Perfrom data entry of task information into database as directed.
- Assist with filing, faxing, copying, and other related tasks as directed.
- Provide program information and customer service, answer questions, obtain, enter and verify customer information, resolve issues in regards to post closing matters.
- Demonstrated ability to organize an office and maintain orderly systems.
- Familiarity with housing programs preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and to conduct Internet searches.
- Ability to use necessary office equipment, computers and peripherals.
- A flexible schedule including some evening or weekend required.
High School diploma or GED required. Two year degree desirable. At least two years of experience in a support role utilizing the same or similar skills as those required for this position. Call center experience and familiarity with the Road Home Program rules and procedures preferred.

These positions are responsible for advising families through the development cycle of the LA Rental Program within The Road Home. The responsibilities of Rental Application Advisors include helping families complete the application form, conducting face-to-face meetings to explain the program and answer questions describing program options, and offering technical assistance to the family in choosing the best program option for them.
The Rental Application Advisors must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work, and maintain confidentiality. The Rental Application Advisor must have the ability to read, write, and speak English; proficiency in Spanish or Vietnamese is desirable.
This position is located in Baton Rouge. High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred or relevant work experience in lieu of degree will be considered. Real estate, housing management, or interviewing experience a plus.
